Wayward Distillery has been crafting spirits with purpose in Courtenay, in the Comox Valley on Vancouver Island, since 2014. This year, we celebrated 10 years, and we’re still proudly operated by our Original Three - Founder Dave Brimacombe, General Manager Sara Unrau, and Head Distiller Laura Carbonell.
Most of our lineup is distilled from sustainable BC honey. Think Unruly Vodka and Gin, Raspberry Gin, Krupnik Spiced Honey Liqueur, Drunken Hive Rum, and Depth Charge Infused Vodka. We also created BC Craft Gin, made with pollinator-friendly botanicals for a more budget-conscious, everyday option.
We donate 1% of sales to Pollinator Partnership Canada, which is over $60,000! We’re also a Rainbow Registered and Living Wage Employer, which reflects our commitment to community, inclusivity, and sustainability.
Visit our Distillery, catch us at markets and events, find a stockist, or get Wayward delivered. Welcome to the Wayward Hive!

At Wayward, bees aren’t just part of the process; they are part of who we are. You’ll find demonstration hives right here at the Distillery, lovingly cared for by Rachel from Homegrown Bee, so we can share the magic (and the importance) of healthy honeybee and pollinator populations with our friends, fans and community.
The honey in our Spirits comes from an apiary in BC’s Peace Region. When we first teamed up, the apiary had 300 hives. Today, they care for more than 1,700. That growth means more bees pollinating more BC farms, more food being grown close to home, and with this partnership, Wayward is a true net-positive food producer.
Plus, we donate 1% of spirit sales to the protection and promotion of bees and pollinators. This has already amounted to more than $60,000!
